Seiko 5 Sports 5 “S” Launches 27 Models In One Go

For over 50 years, Seiko have created watches with specific sets of cleared, and defined principles. Seiko’s watches occupy just about every target market there is on the planet. From a basic and simple sports watch for a primary school youngster, up to the handcrafted Grand Seiko models, costing in the five figures at exclusive boutiques. Better yet, some of Seiko’s most popular and finest collections are scattered in the middle tiers, particularly the bang-for-buck Prospex (sport/tool) and Presage (dress/retro) lines.

To watch enthusiasts, Seiko 5 is like a quick guide , “Introduction to mechanical watches” for dummies. The new Seiko 5 Sports, line-up of 27 models, with movements of Seiko’s basic automatic Calibre 4R36, with 24 jewels, optional manual-winding, a 41-hour power reserve and a hacking seconds hand, are broken down into 5 categories: Sports, Suits, Specialist, Street, and Sense. Each category represents a different thematic approach to the Singular Seiko 5 model.

The Sports line will be quite familiar to longtime fans of the brand. Each model can be traced back to another popular watch from Seiko’s history. The sense collection, with a rock like texture is something new to the public, and its perfect for Seiko to introduce them in the Seiko 5 collections targeting the younger generation. There are a total of 8 models that were launched under the “Suits Style”, and of the five different groups, the collection is “Suits Style” are among my favorite. The white ivory dial on the SRPD67K1, the maroon & yellow USC Trojans color on the SRPD69K1, and personally, I’m leaning towards the green on green mini hulk on the SRPD75K1.

The three models mentioned above have been added to my Christmas wish lists, birthdays, anniversaries in years to come. There’s also the not so special “Specialist Style”, that include 3 of 27 new Seiko 5 series. If there’s anything worth mentioning about this particular “Specialist Style”, it would probably be the rose gold on the SRPD76K1, and perhaps the silicone/calf hybrid rubber straps that come with the watch.

Besides the “Suits Style”, the most anticipated and talked about was the “Street Style”. The name of is self explanatory, the watches are similar to the Seiko * Nano Universe collaboration that was launched back in 2016, with an all-black visual with contrast color LumiBrite.

Lucky for us, based on the visuals and measurements for the new Seiko Five series, which is a reminiscent of the recent discontinued, but certainly not forgotten, SKX007, we can confirm with you that our fitted bracelets for the SKX007, can be used on the new Seiko 5 sports collections, as long as you use a right set of curved fitted spring bars which we have available for sale.

For 300 euros or so, you can enjoy the new Seiko 5 sports collections, with 27 different variants that you can choose from. With an upgraded movement, and new colors added, what more can you ask for? We’re glad that Seiko is not only focusing on the higher end models. It shows that they have just as much dedication to lower tiers markets as well.
